Is Validus Health giving medical advice?
No. Validus Health provides educational scores and ingredient transparency to support everyday choices. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or manage any medical condition, and is not a substitute for advice from a licensed healthcare provider.
What data do you store?
We aim to minimize personal data and keep scoring stateless. As we grow, we’ll use services designed for privacy and scale.
How are scores determined?
By a configuration-driven engine that weighs ingredients, processing markers, and key nutrition context. PRO members can enable goal-based adjustments.
When can I download the app?
Right now — the app is live on the App Store and Google Play. Use the download links above to get started for free.
What if a barcode isn’t found?
Snap a clear photo of the front and ingredients to submit the ingredients to our scoring system. We’ll review and add it to the database.
How often are scores updated?
Scores update as ingredient rules and product data evolve. You may see a version tag and change notes when a product’s score is refreshed.
Can I scan meals or recipes?
Phase 1 focuses on individual foods via barcode. Phase 2 adds meal-level scoring and interactions between ingredients.
Do you penalize all oils equally?
No. We evaluate oils by type, processing, use case, amount, and the full food matrix—not by blanket rules. Cold-pressed olive oil is treated very differently than a highly refined, chemically extracted oil. Strongest penalties go to partially hydrogenated oils and trans fats, then to refined oils used in deep-fried or repeatedly heated industrial contexts. Read our full position on seed oils →
Which additives affect scores?
Examples include certain preservatives, artificial colors, emulsifiers, and sweeteners. The “Top Concerns” view shows exactly what was flagged and how it impacted the score.
Does Validus Health work outside the US?
Right now, Validus is only available in the US. Coverage expands by region as barcode sources improve. If a product is missing, scan the barcode and label and be the first to see the breakdown.
Do I need an internet connection to scan?
Yes. Currently, scanning and scoring require a connection to fetch product data and ingredient rules until we implement an off-line mode.
Can clinicians use Validus Health with patients?
We’re exploring clinician-friendly views and exports. If you’re a practitioner, email support@validushealth.ai to discuss partnership opportunities.
How do I delete my data?
You can go to the Profile screen and request to delete your data. This is a permanent request and cannot be undone. We’ll confirm the request once completed.
Do recommendations favor specific brands?
No! Recommendations are driven by scoring rules and ingredient quality. If you think a result looks biased, send the barcode and we’ll review it.
Why did a product’s score change?
Manufacturers update ingredients and our rule set evolves. When that happens, the product details view will reflect the new rationale.
Can I export my data?
We’re working on self-serve export. Until then, email support@validushealth.ai and we’ll help.
